The Vallée de la chimie, one of the first European hub for chemicals and energy and a major asset for the sector and the region. This business area is home to 25% of the national R&D and has a worldwide reputation for being at the forefront of environmentally friendly industrial concepts in France. For more than 10 years, the Vallée de la Chimie has been a driving force for attracting new players and developing innovative projects. It provides an environment that is conducive to the transition from historical chemical activities to cleantech activities.
At the Lyon Biopôle international competitive hub, industrial players can also rely on the Lyon Gerland Biodistrict. Located in the heart of Lyon, this biodistrict includes almost 5,000 employees working in innovative SMEs and large industrial groups, 2,750 teacherresearchers and over 3,000 students.
This area has innovative, recognised and efficient infrastructures such as the P4 Jean Mérieux laboratory, the Centre d’infectiologie with its 1,980 m² of P2 and P3 laboratory, the Institut de Génomique Fonctionnelle in Lyon, the ABL Europe bioproduction platform or the Institut de Recherche Technologique en Infectiologie (IRT Bioaster).
