The electronic components and digital sector has a real asset with a comprehensive value
chain located in Isère: Electronic CAD & design, equipment & material, industry & fabless,
microsystem & MEMS.
Imagers located in the department also bring cutting-edge skills. Medical technologies
are also benefiting from various developments in component miniaturisation as well as in
software aspects and image analysis. This ecosystem has also allowed the emergence of a
centre of expertise on artificial intelligence.
The chemistry, environment and cleantech industry is made up of 400 companies,
approximately 50 start-ups and cutting-edge research centres, as well as three chemical
platforms considered to be models in terms of industrial ecology.
The presence of Axelera, the only French competitive hub in chemistry-environment is a

THE MOUNTAIN SECTOR
With its companies renowned throughout the world, its flourishing ecosystem and its dynamic innovation, the department of Isère is ideal for the development of the mountain sector. It employs close to 5,600 people in the sector, of which 2,100 in the mountain development sector and 3,500 in the sports industry. The department also has living labs for innovative sports projects such as the Station de Trail in the Chartreuse or the Biz Lab from the Grenoble Ecole de Management.
