The Metal Additive Manufacturing sector is dynamic and emerging in the department. It
includes many players: manufacturers (AddUp), machine suppliers (3D Systems, Inteyx),
or even training and research centres such as Sigma and its “Additive Manufacturing
Chair”.
The competitive hubs and clusters provide structure for a cooperation between
businesses and public research in various sectors, especially:
- Polymeris and IMC in the rubber, plastics and composites sector,
- CIMES and the Centre de promotion des métiers de l’industrie HALL 32 (Industry promotion centre) which stimulate innovation and exchanges, especially around the industry of the future,
- Vegepolys Valley, Innov’Alliance, ADIC, Cluster Bio for the agri-food industry,
- Fibois and Xylofuture in the wood industry,
- I-Care, Innovatherm, GIMRA, Biopôle Clermont-Limagne and Lyonbiopole for healthcare.

With its strategic position, the Puy-de-Dôme is becoming an important player in French and European logistics. At the crossroads of the A75 (North-South) and the A89 (East-West) motorways connecting Europe to the Atlantic Ocean and the Mediterranean Sea.
